High Rigg Shepherd's Sunset Reviews

Rebecca
We had a lovely relaxing stay in the shepherds sunset hut. The hut was cozy & comfortable. We enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub while watching the cows in the field next to us. It was peaceful & quiet during the day & night. The Shepherds pie & prosecco waiting for us in the fridge on arrival was perfect & much appreciated after a long ride to get there. We would definitely return here in the future.

Really enjoyed our stay. Loved the hot tub being ready all the time. Only negative was the water pressure, sometimes no water if had showers first and flies!!
Peaceful, relaxing and tranquil exactly what we were looking for with pubs nearby and carlise a 1015 min drive away. A perfect base for the exploration of the lakes, loved it
Katarzyna
We had a wonderful holiday surrounded by nature. The lodge was lovely, comfortable and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The peace and quiet were exactly what we were looking for, and the beautiful sunsets every evening made our stay even more special. It was the perfect place to unwind, enjoy nature and escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We would happily come back and can honestly recommend this place to everyone. We would definitely stay here again!
Douglas
Lovely hut lovely views. Everything was catered for. We made good use of the hot tub. Lovely robes and slippers were a very welcome touch. Along side the pies and presseco. Excellent area to visit the local scenery lakes and hadrians wall. The only thing was the barbed wire was not very substantial for stopping our dog entering the adjacent field but we managed to keep her out.
We stayed in Shepherds Sunset, which lived up to its name. The hut was welcoming, very comfortable, everything you would ever need, amazing setting and wonderful hosts. We were also lucky enough to have fantastic weather. A real hidden gem
This place is very peaceful and was perfect for what we wanted. The shepherds hut was amazing, with great views, and the owners were very helpful if we needed anything. We will definitely be returning at some point, especially for the shepherds pie! Perfect for a couples getaway.
Great hosts and a great place to relax and unwind. The shepherd's pie and prosecco are a great touch.. we went during a cold spell and had to report no water. It was dealt with quickly and the frozen burst pipe was sorted within the hour and we were back online. The hot tub was clean and lovely and warm especially on those 2 degree days We would stay hear again in a heartbeat and have recommended it to friends. Thank you for a great birthday stay!
I've stayed in alot of lodgesshepherd's hours but this was by far so we'll equipped. The little things were all there. From washing up liquid to salt and pepper. I honestly was able to cook a decent lamb henry, the oven was simple to use, everything was amazing. Can't wait to come back
Amazing, will definitely be returning
Hayley

Samantha
This is the second time we've been to this accommodation such a lovely place to go to just chill out and turn off from the world. You have everything you need in the accommodation. We will definitely be back. We wish we had stayed for longer!
Matthew
We had a fantastic getaway at High Rigg, incredibly quiet and peaceful setting and the hosts were lovely. Complimentary Sheperds Pie and Prosecco were both delicious and a lovely bonus. Lots to see and do nearby, or just wander into the countryside.
Vincent
Couldnt ask for anything more fantastic location with great facilities well ... Couldnt ask for anything more fantastic location with great facilities well maintained tidy property with calming stunning views
Wonderful Shepherds Hut! One of 5 on the site and ours was called Shepherd's Sunset for obvious reasons! We were very lucky with the weather and the sunsets were amazing! We viewed them from our lovely, covered hot tub with a glass of bubbly! The bubbly came courtesy of our hosts who left a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge along with a couple of shepherds pies no less! Delicious! Accommodation was as per photos small, but comfortable And that is part of its charm Lovely area too 2 great pubs nearby The String Of Horses and The Duke Of Cumberland. We walked around Talkin Tarn and climbed up Talkin Fell beautiful, serene, quiet and tranquil. Lovely way to spend our wedding anniversary would highly recommend. Tony & Jane.
Firstly would like to mention the Positives, Beautiful Location over looking such Georgous scenery and fields what went on and on with such character cows coming up to you every morning to say hello and away from built up areas just what we both needed, the owner was a true gentleman, the cottage had a good outdoor area with the added Hot Tub which came in use every evening, the shepherds pie and bottle of fizz also a lovely touch on arrival, The only thing what was a little disappointed in was the size of the bathroom, it wasn't the biggest, so if your a slightly bigger person you would struggle to move around or even fit in the shower and on the toilet too also the pressure of the shower isn't the greatest, some may say does this really matter? To us it did but we managed to get by for the days we was here.... The location was just what we both needed just to get away from white noise and built up areas, the drive up to this location was easy to find and straight forward, the area outside was perfect and the drive around the different areas was beautiful, it's not for people who do have walking difficulties but just like us we drove around and escaped in our car and different local points of history, town is only 10 miles away and there's loads of like bits to see, we both took the risk to do something different to help our mental health and it was the perfect decision, would we come back...Yes we would....take a chance, you'll never know it may just be tge right choice....Perfect little getaway to reset and take time out for both our Mental Health....

What a fabulous stay at High Rigg. Shepherds Sunset was utterley delightful and peaceful. ust what the doctor ordered! The owner introduced himself when we arrived and we had a lovely chat. We wanted for nothing, and High Rigg is an absolute credit to you.
This is our second time staying at the property, great setting with wonderful views. The huts are compact but have everything you need. Unfortunately for the second time the weather was not our friend! Obviously, the GB weather is never guaranteed. Great location to access lots of local hikes. Would stay again.
Really nice place . room and hot tub amazing . clean and well looked after site . Chris and owner really nice to take to. had a very relaxed week. will go again in future.
This was a lovely break and the hut was lovely and will definitely book again
Richard

Hannah
We had an incredible stay here it was so quiet and peaceful, and the property was beautiful. It was lovely and clean, and had everything we couldve needed for our stay. The hosts were very friendly and they were available if we needed anything. The pie and fizz went down a treat too! Overall it was absolutely perfect, and wed love to stay here again. Thank you for having us!
Absolutely wonderful place to stay, clean, tidy, comfortable, lots of nice touches. We felt so welcomed, while given total privacy. Every element of our stay was lovely and the only room for improvement would be that as we brought our dog, the garden could be a little more secure, especially given their are sheep in the adjacent fields a more secure fence on the field side would be ideal, but otherwise it was absolutely perfect! We will definitely be back.
We had a wonderful stay in this property! It was our first time in a Shepherds hut and we were a little surprised at how compact it was however the outdoor space made up for this with covered and uncovered areas allowing us to fully appreciate the beautiful scenery and ever changing weathers!
Anthony
We loved staying here. It was everything we wished it could be. The accommodation was well equipped, cosy and comfortable with a lovely bottle of complimentary fizz in the fridge for us to enjoy. The hot tub is the icing on the cake. We did a couple of walks then came back and relaxed in there with a beer and some music whilst our food was cooking in the oven. It was bliss
Jasmine
We loved it. It was our second visit and we will definitely be back again next year hopefully with the dogs as well.
We have had a fabulous time at High Rigg, we would recommend this beautiful retreat, the shepherds huts are amazing comfortable cosy homely, the facilities were great, amazing place to stay with amazing country side walks and views. Dog friendly like home from home .
Pamela
The whole experience was amazing from start to finish. The shepherds pie and wine was a lovely touch. Everything you needed was in the hut. The hot tub was amazing and warm enough to use throughout the whole stay. Very private. I would definitely recommend for a relaxing stay
A lovely little gem in a beautiful setting! Comfy, cosy, peaceful, well equipped, great explanation of directions on your welcome email. Recommendations would be to add a corkscrew, as we had some wine we brought with us that we couldn't open in the end, that's all we missed though, as everything else was thought of, even a torch and lighter!
Samantha
We had a lovely relaxing stay. The property was compact but had everything we needed for an amazing stay. It was very dog friendly and the Shepard's pie and bottle of fizz made for a very nice welcome. The settings are stunning!
Great place to stay and lovely owners. Hot tub was a great treat. Owners recommendation to visit Powfoot near Annan was spot on. Enjoyed the welcome pack.
Debbie
A much needed break for me & my dog & it did not disappoint. A beautiful quiet setting, lovely accommodation, clean & kitted out with everything you would need, even down to doggy towels
Daniel
The property was amazing and the location and views were astounding. Well looked after, the owners checked on us to see if we needed anything and the shepards pies we got were delicious. Would definitely recommend to others and will look at coming again to this beautifully located property with hot tub which was lovely after a long day of being out and about.
Fantastic accomodation and stay in a beautiful location.
Amanda
Absolutely loved our stay here! The hut was so peaceful and relaxing. It had all the standard ammenities in the property so you only need to pack some food. It backed onto a field of cows so if you take your dog I'd keep that in mind as they do come close to the fence. Really enjoyed the shepherd's pie too, was a lovely touch.
Was truly relaxing and peaceful location . We stayed in the Shepherds Sunset and was make to feel completely at home. We would recommend it to anyone for a relaxing getaway from it all . We will be back.
Nathan
Great property in a nice out of the way location. We woke up to lovely views. Had brief contact with I believe was potentially one of the owners and they were great. Would highly recommend
We had the best time, We needed to relax and we did. Local pub was friendly. We would come back.
Well what can I say other than WOW! Beautiful setting, lovely scenery . Relaxing spot the Hot Tub was amazing just what the Dr ordered for me & my husband . Absolutely recommend this place we will definitely be coming back and will be sharing our experiences to our family and friends . The hosts are lovely and are only phone call away if you need them . On arrival the wine was chilling in the fridge nice and cold and the Shepherds pie was a delight . You will not be disappointed.
Graham
An absolute find of the place. Truly beautiful and peaceful. The owners were tentative with their service and the homemade pies on arrival, was a lovely touch. We will definitely go back again and was worth the 375 mile journey. This site won't allow a picture, but it is beautiful.
