Absolutely beautiful place and surrounding scenery, some of the best memories made here.
Charlie
This is an amazing place to stay and could not recommend it more. Everything was just as advertised with a special touch of a local shepherds pie. As well as this they provide leaflets on areas to explore whilst on your stay.
Kirsty
Such a beautiful location. The shepherds hut was clean, towels provided but we took our own additional ones for the hot tub. Welcoming touches bottle of prosecco 2 x shepherd's pie were lovely. Tea towels were welcome as I wasn't that organised!! And tea, coffee and milk sachets if you arrived before going shopping. Dressing gowns and guest slippers were thoughtful additions for hopping in and out of the hot tub and just chilling. Storage under the bed for clothing. We used the accommodation as a base for exploring nearby towns and the lakes approx hour away. But if you want just a retreat for a few days too its a perfect, tranquil area within the owners grounds and sheep grazing all around. Apologies to the owners as I forgot to whip the bed linen off before we left as required. Would definitely recommend for hikers,a chilled getaway and as a base to explore the area at your own pace.
Jacqueline
Very pleasant stay, the property was very clean, had everything we needed and was a very relaxing break. We have already recommended this place to family and friends.
Louisa
Had a lovely time here great to have enclosed garden for our dog. Met the owner who was friendly and ask if we had everthing we needed.also nice homemade shepards pies and bottle of frizz in fridge on arrival which was a lovely touch highly recommend if looking for a relaxing time here.
An amazing hidden gem with beautiful surroundings very friendly and helpful hosts. All amenities you could need right at hand, high standard of cleanliness inside and out along with the very comfy hot tub couldn't ask for a more relaxing chilled week will definitely be returning soon. Everything it's advertised as. Beautiful area cosy accommodation relaxing would do again. Next time I'll remember to take some bug candles when relaxing in the jacuzzi
We had a lovely stay here after just getting engaged, it was peaceful, clean, relaxing and very romantic. Thank you very much
Beautiful shepherds hut, really relaxing stay and very well equipped. Grounds are stunning a d hosts very friendly, checking we had everything we needed. Hot tub really lovely, plenty of rest and relaxation which is just what we needed. My only mmm was initial cleanliness which could have been previous occupants but should have been checked. Found dirty cups, plates and cutlery. All resolved with a quick wash but attention to detail needed and dont expect to have to wash up before we could use things. Other than that, absolutely perfect.
Absolutely gorgeous! Me & my partner came home last Thursday and didnt want to leave. On arrival we were greeted with a gorgeous pod everything inside was spotlessly clean, 2 lovely shepherds pie and a bottle of prosecco lovely touch of the owners thank you
Shepherds sunrise was delightful. Secluded, quiet and relaxing. A beautiful place to relax and unwind. If I had one criticism it would be storage. I personally dont think the log burner needs to be there, the radiator keeps it warm enough and does the job for the size of the hut. Where the log burner is in the corner, a little wardrobe or chest of drawers would be more suited, other than that, highly recommend and will definitely return.
Highrigg Shepards Sunrise was set in the most beautiful scenery , surrounded by spring lambs enjoying their best life ! It was so peaceful and the Shepards hut was well equipped and nicely presented.
Our second stay here and once again we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. The location is amazing, so peaceful and with beautiful views. The shepherd's hut is fabulous and the interior is so pretty. The added bonus is the hot tub!
Claire
Weve just returned from a weeks stay in High Rigg shepherds sunrise and cant recommend this place enough! Such a beautiful location with stunning views of the lake and wider surroundings the hut itself was spotless with the complimentary locally sourced shepherds pie and bottle of fizz a real treat. The owners Brenda and David live on site and are so friendly and on hand to help should you need them. The site is completely family run and this adds a real warm welcome atmosphere. If youre looking for a cosy retreat dont hesitate book a stay at High Rigg today! We returned home on Friday and have already booked for next year. Thank you Brenda and David

It was a beautiful find! We had a wonderful stay at High Rigg Shepherds Sunrise. Staying in a shepherds hut was something new for me and it was such a great find, I honestly wish I could have taken it home with me! The hut was cosy, very clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Its set in a beautiful, peaceful location which made it perfect for relaxing and switching off. something that was definitely needed and overdue Although we didnt make use of the log fire during our stay, the hot tub was a real highlight. Even though it was windy and chilly outside, it was lovely to sit in and enjoy the surroundings. Overall we had a fantastic experience and would definitely recommend it, I have passed on to friends to hopefully experience , and Im sure we will be back
We usually stay at the shepherds delight but decided to give th sunrise a go and loved it even more. Will b back next year
We stayed in the sunrise hut for Christmas, when we arrived we was welcomed by a beautiful setting,Christmas lights and tree. When we entered the hut we was greeted with shepherds pie and prosecco a lovely touch from the owners.the hut itself has everything you need, couldn't ask for more there is even bathrobes and slippers to use when you venture to the hot tub.the setting is beautiful over looking the lake and very quite, overall it's an amazing little find.....my only criticism would be is that maybe a few hooks in the bathroom to hang towels etc and a few more in the living space? A few areas are looking abit tired so maybe a little spruce up? But these issues would certainly not put me off from returning.
Amazing time away we took our dog and she loved it. The owners were lovely and welcoming making sure everything was all good for us. Easy to check in and check out. First time here and would 100 recommend this place to my family and friends. There is a pub very close as well as shops for daily food or essentials.
Michelle
What a lovely place to stay for a few days, the owners have thought of everything. Great location for walking and local attractions. We appreciated the comfort of the shepherds hut as it was very cold when we stayed. It was always nice and warm and we even used the log burner one night. The hot tub was brilliant and it was undercover and well protected, we appreciated it's warmth in the cold evenings after long walks. The shepherd's pie on arrival was very tasty and filling along with a lovely bottle of prosecco. A lovely touch. The site is nice and quiet and we overlooked the pond. It's dog friendly but bare in mind dogs need to be on a lead to avoid escape into the fields with the sheep. We took a long line with us and secured this so our dog could be outdoors with us whilst we used the hot tub. She was happy in her bed with her winter coat on and we didn't have to worry. Overall just great and would look to return again.
The was a break away for myself and my wife. Absolutely fabulous stay, cosy and warm, the area was in a self enclosed space which meant our dog could be free outside, the hot tub was great especially after a days walking. We asked for a small food hamper which was all put away for us when we arrived.
A perfect 'escape from it all' break which didn't disappoint. The shepherds hut had everything we needed. The location was idyllic and the owners were easily contactable for any issues. The shepherds pies and prosecco on arrival were a lovely gesture too. The hot tub was a welcome relief after long walks in the unpredictable Lakes weather and having it available at all times was a bonus. A 5 star experience in a 5 star accommodation. I would absolutely recommend this to couples with dogs looking for an escape from it all.
The place was amazing! ! We stayed for 2 nights as our monthly couple get away. When i contacted the owner about having some things sent over she was more than happy to have them delivered and even decorated the hut before we got there. We was amazed that on our arrival we had a bottle of fizz and 2 shepherds pies waiting got us which tasted beautiful. The man came and spoke to us before we left he was a lovely gentleman the grounds were amazing and we took a walk round. I definitely would recommend and possibly for longer stays i will be returning again soon the only thing i would change was the cleaning spray empty and no spare bin bags and a proper sponge to wash dishes
Lesley
Great stay at Shepherds Sunrise. Everything we could need was available to use in the accommodation. Loved the Shepherds pie and bottle of fizz welcoming us on our first night. Lots of places to explore. Would definately come back and use the Shepherds hut aswell as recommend to others.
We had a fabulous stay at High Rigg Shepards Hut Sunrise. It was lovely and relaxing. Lovely walks near by, and the food at the String of Horses pub was amazing, dont forget your 20 off voucher when you go. The owners were lovely and very helpful too. We will be back !
What an amazing place. We so enjoyed our stay at Shepherd's Sunrise. The hut was spotless and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Inside was beautifully decorated and outside the hot tub was great with comfortable seating areas and fabulous views. The delicious shepherd's pie and fizz left for us in the fridge were a lovely idea, and the owners were so friendly. Its a beautiful area to explore and so close for a visit to the Lakes. We would highly recommend and look forward to returning in the future.
Amazing, comfortable, clean, peaceful and everything we could have hoped for and more. The lights were on as we arrived so it was easy to see our way up to our door. The hot tub area was lit up and ready for us use. The hut was warm, inviting and ready for us with shepherd's pie and a bottle of fizz in the fridge. Easy and enough instructions for all the bits and pieces we used. The log fire was amazing, the bed was comfortable, the hot tub was fantastic and the owners were friendly and helpful. We would definitely go back and definitely recommend this to anyone who needs a relaxing time together xx Beautiful, peaceful, very clean and cosy with very friendly owners too xxx
Second time staying, we had a lovely time. Definitely be back next year.
Sanjin
It was a wonderful stay. The hut is beautifully decorated and everything was spotless. The fire was really easy to light only comment is make sure you bring a lighter with you to start the fire! So peaceful with some lovely views of the pond.
George
Amazing stay, we got caught in a storm and were looked after very well. Couldnt be happier. Thank you again for the amazing experience!
Nice comfortable stay, even in 6 temperatures I was turning heater down and the log fire boosted temperature up all night.
Incredible place to stay, the Shepard's pie was delicious. Friendly people and amazing views
Great facility to get away for a few days. Maintenance Only thing I would suggest sorting out is adding some clear or white silicone sealant to the back of the sink to prevent water damage to the back of the cupboard. Suggestion One additional toilet roll might be worth adding in the storage cupboard especially as Sunday was a no go day with the high winds and rain plus that unexpected time of month. Travel There were no shops nearby to get those essential supplies baring in mind we did not have transport. It took an hour and fifty minutes to walk to the BP station on A69, the first day, and one hour to Hayton village on our way home where there may have been some essentials on offer. It was closed on the Monday so we didnt find out. By car, a doddle so don't be put off. For information the route to Hayton takes you to the A69 and a bus stop to get to Brampton or Carlisle via the 635 bus. This is closer than to the BP garage where the Spar is. Hot tub a must. With dressing gowns and slippers provided, an evening outside is even more relaxing. Unless you have transport, this holiday is for the keen walker. We related to both. Owners were exceptionally helpful and provided some excellent help and advice. Thank you Claire. I rarely return to places as I love travelling but I would return here. It is slightly on the pricey side but with the place to yourself in the middle of nowhere it's worth it. Overall a very cosy place with great outlook. Well equipped for such a small space but used effectively there is plenty of space.
Yvonne
EXCELLENT PLACE BOOKED TO RETURN IN JANUARY 2025 CAN NOT WAIT TO GO BACK
Kathay
This is truly a little gem, not only from the delights of the surroundings, the shepherds hut was just perfect every little detail well thought off, I worried before arrival about the size as some I have stayed in that look big on the pictures but are quite small, but this was one of the larger huts we've stayed in, the jacuzzi was very private, never seen any other guests. a lovely gesture of delicious shepherds pie and a bottle of fizz which was a lovely welcome gift, I would highly recommend, and we are already planning our next trip back. If I could make one small change and it would be small, may I suggest removing the customer signs and the be replaced with guest.
We had a great stay. Everybody was friendly and helpful on the site. The shepherds pies are a great touch. Can't wait to go back
Lovely and relaxing stay in beautiful surroundings, small But perfectly formed. Hot tub excellent and bed extremely comfortable. Will stay again
Millie
We were warmly welcomed as soon as we arrived, he was very kind and already had the hot tub ready for us! The lodge was very cosy and clean, the lighting of the lodge made it very warm and romantic, with fairy lights both inside and outside. There were shepherd's pies already waiting for us in the fridge with a bottle of sparkling we've never tasted shepherd's pie as good as them! There is also a very nice pub less than 10 mins walk away. Overall, a very pleasant stay, and highly recommend to anyone, especially couples who want a cosy getaway!
Rachel
Really lovely stay. Peaceful and relaxing locationplot. Close to local pubs which were very welcoming to us and our dog! The fence surrounding the hut had wide gaps and with sheep being nearby there was a slight concern the dog might get into mischief we brought a dog gate which fitted perfectly so problem solved! I think considering the pricepoint some charcoal for the bbq could have come for free rather than additional cost on arrival and some local recommendations may have come in handy from the hosts we bumped into some locals who happily obliged us though so no worries there!

Worst experience ever over run with bugs and flys from the trees Parking in ... Worst experience ever over run with bugs and flys from the trees Parking in between the trees was terrible when you get out of the vehicle on wet ground very slippery and dangerous We stayed just one night and moved out pictures looked wonderful real life experience rubbish
What a truly beautiful setting quiet and very peaceful. The shepherds hut was cosy comfortable and the hot tub was so soothing. The views are breathtaking watching cows grazing on the hill opposite and ducks paddling on the lake was a treat. Shepherds Sunrise we will return. Mrs and Mr Evans
