High Rigg Shepherd's Hideaway Reviews

We have just stayed 5 nights at the shepherds hideaway, the place is peaceful and perfect for a relaxing stay. The view is fantastic with great sunsets when we stopped. The owners and staff are very friendly but private. The additional BBQ, Chiminea and Hot tub was very welcome for us. Will definitely be back if available. Just so you dont think this is a false review, the cleaning of cobwebs could have been been better before we arrived, but it is in the woods
Its a shepherds hut amongst trees overlooking fields with cows, dont expect a suite at the Savoy, no wasted space but everything you need and imaginatively decorated. Enjoyed hot tub watching the sun setting and the privacy. Would happily return again.
Lovely fews days in this gorgeous Shepherds hut everything we needed was there views gorgeous and we made good use of the lovely hot tub . Homemade cottage pies left for us on arrival were lovely as was the bottle of processco . We would love to return
We had a wonderful and relaxing stay at High Rigg. The accomodation was clean and private with plenty of space for the dog to run around in. Particularly enjoyed the pies from the local butcher, we had to buy more to take home with us! Our hosts were friendly and very accommodating, we would love to visit again.
Hayley
We had a Fabulous stay in Shepherds Hideaway and would return in a heart beat. Amazing hosts, so welcoming and friendly throughout our stay. Great welcome gifts and the hot tub was ready to step straight in to! Everything you need in the kitchen is there and the option of BBQ's aswell. We had lots of adventures during our stay, plenty to do and see with our Dog joining in. Dog friendly pubs and allowed on boat trips etc. Short walk to a Pub and lots of shops in short driving distance. Thank You so much. Hayley, Yamal and Hugo Xxx
Audrey
Our little hideaway had a garden for our dog which was great. Big enough to do zoomies but there was one part he could get out. Would be better all fenced in. Hot tub lovely and relaxing. Brampton town is really good for shops and had a market on. Lovely and peaceful. Very private. Ours was shepherds hideaway. The only downside was not dusted. All the lights and fittings on walls covered in dust but did not put us off. Could have done with little garden maintenance. Would go back if it was fenced in properly. Enjoyed it
Rebecca
Such a lovely, cosy place to stay with fantastic views. Would highly recommend this for couples wanting a quiet get away.
We had the best time. Perfect location. Lovely hosts. Accommodation was amazing. Such a great weekend away. We loved it.
The shepherds hideaway is a stunning, comfortable, cosy place to stay. It provides everything you could need and the lovely owners even provide shepherds pies and Prosecco on arrival. The hot tub was amazing we felt relaxed every day, it was also very clean. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone as it was just overall fantastic!
My stay in the shepherds hut was nothing short of magical. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the incredible sense of peace and quiet the perfect escape from everyday life. The hut itself was beautifully done cosy, thoughtfully equipped, and full of charm. The hot tub was a real highlight, especially in the evenings, soaking under the open sky while taking in the views stretching all the way towards Scotland. Waking up to those views each morning was unforgettable rolling landscapes, big skies, and total tranquillity. This place is ideal if youre looking to truly switch off, relax, and reconnect with nature without sacrificing comfort. I left feeling completely refreshed and would return in a heartbeat. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a peaceful, special getaway.
Louise
Perfect Shepards hut with everything we could have needed.
Harriet
This is a cosy little shepherds hut in a beautiful private location. It was very warm even in the middle of winter. The hot tub was great and we enjoyed a dip on Christmas Day! The owners thoughtfully left us delicious cottage pies and little Christmas cake, pudding, panettone and a bottle of fizz!
Fantastic place to stay, great location and the property is absolutely perfect, I will definitely return in the future.
Hayley

Andrea
Very much enjoyed my time at High Rigg Shepherd's Hideaway. Clean, comfortable, plenty of towels and a very private area with a view, which is just what i wanted. I made the most of the location to visit the Dumfries, Rothbury and Keswick & Ambleside. The WiFi was good and mobile phone reception no problem, despite Storm Amy. The bottle of fizz and the shepherds pies went down very well too. Would love to return in the summer months.
Been before and I'll go again, not many words needed. ....amazing
Lovely shepherds hut & brilliant the hot tub being undercover not that we needed the cover this last weekend! Lovely bathroom & comfy bed. The hut is sited really well private with lovely views Only thing to mention is that a bigger frying pan would be great not really big enough for a breakfast for 2 We, hopefully will be back if work places & schedule permit I think it would be a lovely place for a break in autumn or winter make use of the lig burner
Lovely place to stay, quiet and out of the way,
Sophie
Where to start . We have so many compliments we could give. The shepherds hut was beautiful inside and out and the view was breathtaking ultimate privacy, a hideaway from day to day life and reality for the ultimate reset this place is perfect. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner who was incredibly kind and takes great care and pride in his shepherd huts. We will be back.
Stephanie
We booked this hideaway for 4 nights in July and it did not disappoint. Although cosy in space it is perfect for a couples getaway. Although on land with other huts, it is completely private and hidden behind bushes to the main house. It boasts a stunning view of Scotland from the decking and hot tub and front row seats to watch the sunset. On arrival we collected the keys from the safe and were greeted with a bottle of Prosecco and two shepherds pie free of charge which was a lovely touch. We were still able to travel further into the lakes from here, the M6 is near and just a 50 minute drive into Keswick, 40 minutes to Thirlmere and 1 hour 20 minutes into Buttermere. Then we could return to peace and quiet into the hot tub for the evening. Overall our stay was perfect.
Andrew
We really enjoyed our stay there, it was lovely and tranquil and secluded, just what we needed for a short break to recharge. I have to be honest, the place is lovely and clean and the gesture of a bottle of bubbly in the fridge and 2 very excellent Shepard's pies was amazing, butit was a little tricky managing the lavatory, as, if youre tallwell its a little cramped in there shall we say. But I dont want to detract from the stay, and its a really lovely place. If there was one other thing to recommend to the owners, perhaps trim the tree that over hangs the tin roof? We had some wind and the resulting scratching scared the hell out of us until we realised it wasnt a wild bear attack!
Kieran
The perfect getaway We loved the Shepard's hut and hot tub and the views were amazing, pictures do not do it justice We loved exploring the local area and everyone we dealt with was kind and knowledgeable Thankyou we will be back! It really was special
Tracie
Thank you. It was the perfect get away. Directions were clear and the hut was clean and comfortable with everything we needed. Entering through the magical walkway to the view was a wow! moment, that made me stop in my tracks and instantly felt relaxed. We will definitely be back
Hayley
The location is idyllic, really peaceful with stunning views. The only sounds are the murmuring from the hot tub and birds tweeting. When we got there the fridge held a lovely surprise of 2 individual locally made shepherds pies and a bottle of fizz which was a lovely welcome. We stayed for 3 nights taking in local walks and runs, of which there are plenty so could return time and time again and still have plenty of new walks to do. Its the perfect peaceful getaway and well definitely be back
Vanessa
Lovely place , very well maintained, gardens and generally looks really good. Accommodation was perfect, very comfortable and clean. Nice little touch of a shepherds pie and a bottle of fizz. Hot tub and outside area was clean and well maintained. We met David the owner, nice friendly gentleman. Nice surrounding area, very nice garden centre to visit. Would certainly recommend this place, we had a lovely break in peaceful surroundings.
Lovely people and very helpful. Lovely clean bedding. Beautiful scenery.
Absolutely loved our stay here. Its the fourth time we have been and it never disappoints. Huts are well spread out so feels private and can spend time alone. Huts want for nothing and are warm and cosy. Hot tub is absolute selling point and reason we keep coming back.
A little haven hidden away and so glad we found it. Beautiful inside and out and so peaceful that we really were able to switch off and relax, we really hope to return. It was clean, cosy and well equipped with a beautiful view as an added bonus. The directions were clear and easy to follow which made the journey over stress free. Everything was great and have already recommended it to other people.
Stuart
Both myself and my partner had a lovely time and would thoroughly recommend staying at this place High Rigg Shepherds cottage It was so peaceful and private and was just perfect for what we were looking for and as a bonus we got to see the Aurora Borealis which just made our stay more perfect If you are looking for a place that is quiet, comfortable with lovely views and need to get away from it all then this is the place for you. There are plenty of places to visit by car in the surrounding areas that will keep you busy We did a lot of walking with our Dog Mia and she also thoroughly enjoyed it and lost weight in the process She needed it lol We recommend this beautiful place 100
An amazing place! The 2nd time we have been. The owners are very accomodating, and the customer service is exceptional! We love this place so much and was so sad when it came to us leaving! We will be back. Thank you
Cant find any fault in the Shepard's hut or its surroundings. Was one of the best places I stayed in years
This far exceeded our expectations even though we didn't know what to expect. The accommodation was the perfect size for me my partner and our dog. There was everything we needed including a doggie bed and towel. The staff were polite and helpful and on hand if needed, The views were lovely I loved how it was down a cute lit path, proper little hideaway. The hot tub was great and we will definitely be coming back. The pies and wine in the fridge were such a lovely touch and have no influence on my views haha.
Andrew
2nd visit here and I'm sure we will be back, we booked this particular hut as it's the most secluded and has great views! It was very clean and you could tell the owners keep on top of things. The hot tub was very relaxing and we used the outdoor log burner and the inside one, they provide some logs which was great, no matches though. Dean was very helpful when I stupidly couldn't turn the hob on. VERY easy check in process, a code is supplied for a key box, so you don't have to see or talk to anybody.
Great hosts Dave and Brenda nothing was too much trouble, very helpful. The Shepherds hut was very comfortable and well equipped. Fantastic views and an awesome hot tub. Would definitely go there on holiday again.
Dorothy

This is an excellent location to spend several days relaxing and recharging your batteries. The hut is beautiful and everything you need for your stay is cratered for. The owners are so friendly if you need anything and helped straightaway when we had a problem with our car. Highly recommended.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The hut and hot tub area were clean and nicely decorated with everything we needed. We stayed in the Shepherds Hideaway hut and we couldnt see anyone else from where we were other than the cows. Its worth noting that youre only supplied with 1 toilet roll so take your own if youre there for a few days like we were.
Astyne
Beautiful secluded location, perfect for a romantic trip away. I stayed three nights with my partner and we had an amazing time. The hut was cosy and decorated beautifully. The hot tub was clean and the views where stunning. We will definitely be visiting again.
