Ivy's Way Reviews

Hermione
Ivys Way shepherds hut is an absolute must to stay in! The location is situated in the countryside with gorgeous views. Having a field of highland cows right outside your door is just magical! The drive to the hut is gorgeous and extremely easy to get to. I chose this place mainly because it has a private enclosed area that my fur baby could roam freely in. I was worried as I arrived because I wasnt sure how secure the fence would be but its extremely secure even for small pets who like to squeeze through gaps like mine Me and my partner were able to relax in the hot tub without worry of the dog. The hot tub was also a show stopper. I love that this hot tub was level with the decking. Its so much easier to step down into it. One thing to mention which I did see in other reviews, the hot tub has some jets which currently werent working. One review mentioned this last year so I had hope it wouldve been fixed by our visit but it wasnt. The hut itself was clean and tidy. The bedding was insanely comfortable and the little shelving units with decor were such a homely touch. There was a pint of milk in the fridge with tea, coffee, sugar and waffles very tasty I bumped into one of the family members who runs the holiday park I think he was ever so lovely and polite. I wish I wouldve made use of the log burner and outdoor fire pit but it was quite warm so there wasnt need. Just a note that upon arrival if you choose to use the burner you can purchase a log kit for 10 if you contact the hosts. I found the recommendations of places to visit very helpful. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and will be back I wish I booked more nights I highly recommend this stay to others.

Just came back from a stay at Ivy's Way hut was such a lovely relaxed time. We really enjoyed our time there and was sad to come back! The hut itself is very cosy and clean. We were provided with some milk, waffles and some tea and coffee sachets. The bed was comfortable, mattress was nice and soft yet supportive. Shower and toilet was all good. We had a slight issue with the fridge overheating and turning itself off, but we called the owners and they came over and sorted it straight away. Towels all provided. All instructions for things such as hob, bins and hot tub were online via a QR code. The hut is very close to Rhayader and Elan Valley, so close to places to eat and visit. Really beautiful area but just away enough to feel secluded. A helpful note here for future holidayers is we followed the sat nav instructions that came with the Sykes cottage booking link. It takes you down a different lane and house, so don't follow the maps instructions off the website. In the end we actually found ivy's way on Google maps and lead us directly to the hut. Definitely recommend staying in the summer. The views were wonderful, it was warm enough in the hut without any need for heating or firing up the wood burner although it's worth noting that logs and kindling is a small extra charge and doesn't come as standard. However the best part for us was the hot tub and going out at night when the sky was clear. The view of the night sky without light pollution was phenomenal. We got to see so many stars and we could see the outline of the milky way stripe, which you don't get to see in populated areas. Just incredible! There are highland cows in the field in front of the hut who were so lovely to see and there were 2 babies! My animal lover heart was very happy! We also met Phil who is part of the staff who helps out and he was so lovely and fun. Really nice person to interact with and was very welcoming. Also I think it's worth mentioning but there's other huts and hobbit houses in the area, but on their own plots so not as isolated as I believed it be before we arrived, but still had enough privacy of our own. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay, loved our hut and hot tub and was overjoyed with the views and night sky. Would definitely like to come again, probably in the warmer months for sure as it gets pretty windy being so high up.

Ivys Way is the perfect dog friendly secure peaceful getaway. With incredible views right out the door, comfy amenities, and that hot tub to relax in at night. We couldnt ask for a better stay so close to Elan Valley, with plenty of other accommodation options on the site for when we return again in the future. The town of Rhayader is also under 5 minutes away and has all the facilities to eatdrink out without driving too far away. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Excellent location, the Shepherd's hut was very clean & cosy. Lots of things to do in the surrounding areas. The hut had an enclosed garden perfect for our dog, the hot tub was kept very clean, and our neighbours opposite us were a field of highland cows! It was very quiet and peaceful.
I loved stayed at ivys way, it was exactly as advertised. I used the facilities and hot tub will ease. The only issues I had were I brought a Moka coffee pot which couldnt be used on the hob as it was not convection compatible. The internal lock on the non key door did not close efficiently and actually the doors could be easily opened even if locked. For safety this should be looked at. I notice that each property had different outside furniture and the ones at this property were not the most comfortable. Other than that, I would highly recommend.

This lovely cabin is amazing, me and my boyfriend have stayed here a couple of times now and we have always been soo happy with the cabin! We love it so much and the area is beautiful. We are definitely planning on coming back here in the future for more weekend getaways.
Sandra
Absolutely amazing stay in a superb location. Hut is so comfy , clean and the enclosed garden perfect for our 2 dogs. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. Only thing I would say is the description on the listing implied you were isolated and the only hut but there are other huts around. However, this did not affect our stay as it was very quiet

Really enjoyed my stay with my 2 dog's only down side the bottom of the gates my king charles could get out, I asked staff they put metal sleeper up against it too stop him getting out that's the only negative would definitely return stay again
Door leaked so floor always wet and hut always cold. Bathroom radiator didn't work so freezing bathroom. Outside lights didn't work so dangerous walking outside at night Hot tub had too many chemicals in and ruined clothing Freezer didn't work and food defrosted Cooker was useless. Took nearly two hours to cook a 30 min meal. There was no starter pack or fuel for log burner. Such a disappointing trip as the hut itself and location looked amazing but just wasn't up to spec. Definitely not worth the 490 price tag
Stayed in ivy's way over the weekend, we had the best time! The hut was beautiful, very clean and had everything we needed, the staffowners was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely recommend this place to others.
Steven
The toaster kept tripping the electric one cup was cracked so when filled with hot water it leaked everywhere. We did phone some one and said will replace later but still 3 days later still no one come . There was no instructions on how to use oven microwave. Because all the print on dials were rubbed off .
Stunning view and property. Teddy our dog is a bigger dog and had lots of room to run around and even sleep. Loved the gated area didnt have to worry about him running off. Felt safe and secure at all times. The jacuzzi was lovely and very clean even had a lovely privacy from the back huts. The bed was super comfy I wanted to take it home. All was as describe and was not disappointed. We would defiantly stay again just without the dog as there is not to much open space to walk him apart from walking on a main road. Cons Couldnt read the markings on the top appliance so couldnt use it really. We bought disposable bbqs more so for ease and the bbq there was not looking its best. But we still managed to have two lovely bbqs. I think with it having such a large deck area maybe a nice little seating area would nice and not just the metal chair and table. Overall stay was amazing and would defiantly recommend which I have done to two friends already.
Me and my partner and the dog had the most amazing holiday at Ivy's Way. We couldn't have asked for better accommodation, with everything we needed for a mini break away. The views were absolutely amazing and watching the sunset from the hot tub was incredible. Such a beautiful hut and will definitely be back for a second visit!

Absolutely loved our stay at Ivys Way, our hut was at the front so we had the best view of the hills and saw some beautiful sunrises sunsets. The hut was super cosy and perfect for our dog. The hut was secured by fencing and so we could allow our dog to have free reign which was nice. The only issue we did have was finding the place, it isn't signposted and the directions given weren't overly helpful.
Kayleigh
Really lovely cozy shepherd's hut. Beautiful views. Would have liked some coat hangers for the small wardrobe area. A welcome pack with some instruction manuals mite be helpful especially for the microwave oven. Shower pressure was very weak even when turned up. These are all minor issues to us thought we had a fab stay and would deffo stay again.
Kirsty
We had a fantastic stay what a gem of a place. ! The views and setting are stunning. So relaxing and was the R&R we needed. Our fave part was the hot tub, really had the wow factor watching the sunset over the rolling hills while chilling in it after a long day exploring. We loved also spending the eve with a fire outside and stargazing. Our dogs loved the outdoor space and it was nice having an enclosed fence for them to be let off in the garden too. Inside the hut itself was so cosy and warm and has all the basics you need. Thought it was really lovely having little touches like the teacoffeesugar milk and the waffles which were lush btw owners have really thought about it and was appreciated. The only thing I would suggest is perhaps to include some instructions with the oven as we hadn't used one like this before but honestly apart from this everything was just perfect, thank you so much for a beautiful stay we can't wait to come back.
Hannah
We came to stay here for my birthday weekend and it was perfect. The hut is really cosy and tidy, the hot tub was delightful and the closed off area was perfect for our dog who loved the trip too!. We were missing some firelogs for our stove but after calling they arrived 5 minutes later. Really great service and would definitely come back for another visit in the future.

Charlotte
We had the best holiday at Ivy's Way. The views from the property we're spectacular and it was so nice to find a field full of Highland Cows too. The Shepherds Hut itself was stunning and decorated so nicely, it was really cosy and the welcome pack had some lovely bits in too. The hot tub and fire was very welcoming and we received a pack of logs to start us off, which ended up lasting for a few days. We can't wait to book here again!
Stephen
We contacted the owner when we arrived via the number left on the information sheet because there was no hot water in the kitchen or bathroom basin. We left a message on the phone which was never returned so for the whole stay we had no hot water in the kitchen. On the morning that we were leaving there was no electricity at all it just went off, as we were leaving we didn't bother to notify anyone as we had no response to our earlier call. Apart from this we were pleased with our stay, the views across the valley were stunning and the accomadation was clean and very cosy.
Nadiene
Ivy's Way was absolutely perfect to celebrate our 10th Wedding anniversary, it was beautiful, cosy and romantic. The views from the hot tub were stunning and it was so relaxing. We would definitely recommend staying here.
It was absolutely fantastic, the Owner and team are fantastic really caring to make sure everything is perfect for your stay. We arranged afternoon tea for our arrival and its was high class excellent service. We had a week in ivy way and will definitely be returning for another holiday soon.
We had such an amazing stay! Beautiful views, comfy, warm, secluded, gorgeous! We will certainly be back soon xxxx
Gemma was a brilliant host and did everything she could to make our holiday amazing. Stunning views, beautiful hut and brilliant host!
Victoria
Beautiful place with even more beautiful surroundings. Welcome package left on the bed for us was a lovely extra thought. Lots of places to walk on your doorstep. Host was welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed.
Rachel
Perfect. Very high quality finish to the hut, beautiful views, peaceful and the hot tub was lovely! 1010 will definitely return. Stayed during a storm with very strong winds and snow but felt safe and secure in the hut, lovely and warm with the wood burner.
Thomas
Lovely Sheppard's Hut, even better than expected, clean and fully equipped, hot tub was running on arrival and spotless.
Stephanie
The accommodation was better than we could have hoped for. Everything down to the last finishing touches were thought of. The location is picturesque with easy access to Elan valley and Gilfach nature reserve. Would highly recommend
Claire
Lovely cosy shepherd's hut where the owners have thought about everything. We stayed in November and had snow but the hut remained warm and cosy with the log burner and the fantastic hot tub. We are two adults and a large boxer dog and managed just fine. Everything was spotless. There isn't much room for storage there is a small area with hangers which we didn't expect but we left things in the car and our small bags went under the bed. There are hooks for dressing gowns and coats near the door and back of bathroom door. Great size shower. Sheep are in the fields next to the garden which our dog is fine with but some dogs may not be so to be made aware of. Looks like they are building another hut next to Ivys but the distance is great and the shrubs and fencing still give you privacy and seclusion. You need to go into Rhayader for suppliespubs and there are limited off lead dog walks in the area just due to the vast amount of farms and cattle. Would highly recommend this hut for peace and a chill out whilst looking at the amazing views and red kites flying overhead. The owner is helpful and at the end of the phone if you need her.
We had an amazing stay at Ivys way! Everything was perfect down to the littlest of details spotlessly clean and everything we needed and wanted for a relaxing few days thank you so much! Xx
Tranquil and peaceful surroundings, host was very welcoming. A perfect little place to go and forget about the normal hustle and bustle of everyday life... 1010
I've been using sykes cottages for a good few years and by far this is one of our favourite places to have stayed. The owners hung a birthday banner up for me and left us treats from their farm to sample on. It was so peaceful and quiet there, the hot tub was awesome and because we were in an enclosed bit of land we could let the dog out and not worry about her running off. For the price we paid I truly felt spoilt.
Georgia
Myself and my husband along with the dog stayed here for 5 days. what can I say from the kind details put out for my birthday to the amazing hot tub!! It is very clean and has everything you need for a real escape and relaxation. we all recharged our batteries which is what we wanted. We cant wait till come back. thank you for having us xx
