Ailsa Craig Reviews

Stayed here before and it doesn't disappoint. ..lovely views...quiet and a large hedged area for the kids to simply play and run around. The hosts will do anything for you, the bedding is of a good quality and with a barbi and hot tub, what's not to like!
Barrie
A comfortable, cosy, stay, although the wet January weather was not conducive to glamping. A little expensive.
Emma-clare
Such a lovely weekend break
Daniel
A beautiful lodge in the countryside with stunning views and log burning hot tub, the photos dont do it justice. Nigel was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend, great for family getaways!
Would have been good to know it wasnt on a site with its own entrance and there are only 2 cabins round the back in a field next to loads of abandoned caravans this isnt the usual Sykes experience. Few things broken and not up to the standards of other places we have stayed outdoor umbrella just hangsswings and is broken upon inspection, the shower door is off its runners, hob was lukewarm at best, the sink leaked into the cupboard ruining some of our food. The washing up before we arrived was not done to a high standard and the things on the counter like the kettle and the mug tree were sticky to touch. Two towels left for 2 people for 3 nights, no hand towel and no shower mats. We had to leave a day early for personal reasons but I was pleased to do so. Owner super helpful but this is not a holiday cottage that lives up to the rest of the Sykes experience.
Nigel was a wonderful host. The cabin is beautifully kept and has everything you need. We were concerned about being in a small space with two young children, but it was perfect. Everything was very safe and very peaceful. Everyone loved the hot tub! My only comment is the outside furniture isnt particularly comfortable. Its not a criticism though. I would recommend our stay 100. Thank you!
Thank you for a lovely stay . I stayed there with my two youngest boys and we had such a peaceful time. The owner is the sweetest person and wants all his guests to enjoy their stay. There are some amazing wildlife on offer there also from dragon flys to swans and ducks . Only reccomdation is a few sockets need a tighten up and maybe a few coffeesbathroom essentials. Thank you again and we will be back with the rest of the family x
Beautiful views of the rolling worcestershire hills, a perfect location for the property. It was packed with everything we could possibly need for our week long stay. Everything was spotless and nothing was too much trouble for the host. We have already booked again and can't wait for our return visit.
We had a lovely stay in Ailsa Craig. The owner was very responsive to any questions or issues bbq gas ran out, the lodge was perfect for us and our dog. Such a lovely setting that was perfect for relaxing and exploring the area.
Adrian
We loved our stay at Ailsa Craig. The pod was very clean and cosy and the hot tub was lovely. The view was absolutely stunning. It was so peaceful, all you could hear was sheep. Absolute bliss, we didn't want to leave! The owner is lovely too, very helpful.
Stephanie
Beautiful property and owner, we loved every second of our stay. Thank you xx
Fantastic property with picturesque location. The host is fantastic and very helpful. We did not have a bbq when we arrived but he made sure we had one the following day. Not much in terms of cooking facilities for a family of 5 without bbq. Hot tub was lovely.
Host was very friendly and accommodating. We were a family of 6 our family dog. We had a lovely time. The log burning hot tub was amazing as were the views of the Malvern Hills.
We had a fantastic family getaway here. The location was superb! The views were beautiful with the lake, swans, geese and ducks to watch. The hot tub was greatly enjoyed and constantly hot if you ensure the wood is topped up. It was the kids highlight of the holiday. The cabin had everything we needed and very comfortable, great shower and modern lighting. We visited Whitley court and gardens, the English Heritage site just across the road for a good walk and play and ate at Bloomfields for breakfast one day which we can highly recommend along with the New Inn and the Holt Fleece for evening meals, both catered for children. We stayed in winter and my only suggestion would be to add a mat on entry and a bath mat in the bathroom by the shower. Just to save the floor. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
We had a really enjoyable 4 night stay. The pod was clean & comfortable and the views over the lake were beautiful. Be aware if you have a dog, you will need to keep it on a lead outdoors due to livestock, but this wasnt a problem for us & we just took a crate & throws to keep the indoors clean. Hot tub was wonderful & much enjoyed. Its a beautiful location, very peaceful, a fantastic getaway & the owner was very helpful when needed but also left you to your own devices to relax and enjoy. Would love to return!
Stayed at Ailsa Craig for 3 nights, the owners could not have been more accommodating they had thought of everything needed for your stay. The property was immaculate and very clean. We would recommend and will definitely be back.
Loved the stay and the grounds were lovely. Just an upgrade needs to be done with the TV. Struggled to get our apps linked with the TV, controller wasn't working properly either. Other than that, it was lovely
Nicholas
We booked both lodges with our friends family and they were great! Kids loved the hot tubs, owner was friendly and helpful. Beautiful views and quiet. Not far from local amenities, about 15mins from big supermarket.
Thilini
The property owner is completely a rasist! This was the worst holiday experience we had in our lives in the UK. This property owner is completely a racist who treats as per skin colour. We saw his mood change when he saw us for the first time. When we asked how to operate some equipment at the property, he sacastically laughed and replied, I do not know, and he also shouted, You should have come with a known one, when we asked how to open the hot tub. He threatened us to remove the vehicles from the property, and if not, he was going to run over them with his trailor. The bedding is not clean at all. You cannot see it in pictures, but we terribly smelt it. When enquired it he lied us those are just came from the laundry.Flies and mosquitoes are everywhere, but there hasn't been a vaporiser or anything.Wifi is a complete lie. There is no Wifi facility. The TV and its remote are not functioning as well. Do not ever book this terrible rude cottage!!!
Corrine
We had a lovely stay in July. We had a very friendly welcome from owner. Our children loved the outside space and hot tub. We were lucky enough to have good weather so could enjoy the bbq and hot tub most days. The area was quiet, with amazing views to wake up to. We loved the pod, which was spacious enough for two adults and two children. Only slight negative was some of the pans were a bit dirty from previous users but we didnt really need to use them. We would stay again in a heart beat.
Jessica
The pod was lovely, clean and in a beautiful location. All the facilities were fantastic and the host was very helpful. One small problem was the barbecues hadnt been cleaned from their previous use so there was burnt on food on the racks.
Jessica
Had a well relaxed getaway with my husband. Very much needed. Great views from the pod. Good location. Nigel was friendly. The pod was missing a few things ie equipment for the bbq tongs and hot tub tongs for the wood. Would recommend thicker pillows as they were very thin. Overall had a lovely time away.
We had a fab stay at Ailsa Craig. The hut had everything we needed and was very clean and tidy. The kids loved the lights! We had the hot tub lit for us which was a great start. Enjoyed keeping it going throughout our stay. Great views to wake up to. Lovely peaceful environment. We did have quite a bit of rain which made it a bit boggy next to the hot tub so maybe a path up to it would be helpful. All in all would highly recommend
Lovely place to spend our daughter's birthday. Pod itself is comfortable and warm and surrounding views beautiful. Nigel was very helpful and informative. The wood fired hotub is easy to use and still has the facilities you would associate with a standard hot tub. The gas BBQ was also really useful on a warm evening while admiring the scenery.
Absolutely stunning location, peaceful & with beautiful views. The owner was very friendly & helpful when we first arrived & when I lost the keys sorry! The pod was beautifully clean & well equipped. Also, lovely & warm with the heating on. However, the site was very muddy not the owners fault that there had been so much rain but more could be put in place to make the site more accessible. The woodfired hot tub became a chore rather than a pleasure & the supply of kindling, firelighters & matches had run out by Tuesday we were there Friday to Friday. I would also recommend that future guests take plenty of towels, including hand towels, as none are provided.
Many thanks again. A really lovely stay!
Dianne
The place is truly a great escape from a busy life, and Nigel has been very accomodating, he always checks that we are okay and has been enjoying and was very kind enough to provide us with cooking oil as we run out of stock. Location Be mindful, the postcode on the advert will point you to a different direction, however, just follow the writen instruction and you'll find your way. It's the Pennlake Vale Glamping. Overall, it was a perfect spot to relax and reconnect with nature. We will definitely come back.
Lindsay
We had a lovely stay Nigel was very attentive showed us how everything worked checked on us a couple of times to make sure everything was ok Hot Tub is a lovely feature and the dual head shower is very nice. The lovely extras of tea coffee and sugar were an extra were weren't expecting so a lovely bonus. The lounge sofa was well sat on so cushions are a little flat but the pull out was comfy. Don't forget your beach towels and extras if you a big group like us who seem to use hundreds, we took a fan with us as we do get warm and it was definitely needed. Lovely grounds and a lovely location to explore or just chill
Nice place but no value for money
Claire
A really great place to stay, lovely and out of the way.
Leanne
My family & I had a wonderful weekend here. The pod was lovely, clean & comfortable. The views were amazing & facilities were great. The host was very friendly & checked to make sure everything was ok for us. The only suggestion I would make is to maybe consider supplying a fan in the pods during the hot weather. Luckily I remembered to bring my own but if I hadn't, it would have been very hot & stuffy at night. That being said, I didn't ask for one either so maybe you already do supply them but there wasn't any in ours. We can't wait to come back again soon. Thank you!
Ashleigh
Had a really lovely stay, nice and relaxing! Would recommend taking a mattress topper as they are super soft and springy so not to everyones taste! Also would put some bbq utensils in as the ones provided in the kitchen are silicone so are not suitable for the bbq! Would also like to see a recycling point as no obvious recycling on site at all.. Other than that it was lovely and the owner Nigel was really nice and always happy to help! We were super impressed by the hot tub as well, we thought as it was wood fired it would take ages to heat up enough but it only took about 15 mins before you could get in and stayed warm for hours after we let the fire go out!
We really enjoyed our 2 night stay in the pod, even managed to eat a meal outside under the stars thanks to the patio heater. Loved the speakers and LED lights in the ceiling!! Our only suggestions would be for some wine glasses and some form of dish that could be used in the microwave.
Fabulous stay! The cabin is secure, warm and luxurious on the inside with a working kitchen dining room. The views are absolutely beautiful, lots of fields to walk through and animals to look at. The cabin is built beautifully and the decor is lovely. The microwave oven was a nice added bonus as we didnt feel like eating out all the time so we were able to cook some good meals. Short distance to pubs, restaurants and Worcester centre. The only cons I have is that the hot tub was slightly murky looking upon our arrival which was fine however, we were staying Friday Monday and by the Sunday morning, the water in the tub smelt pongy and pondlike. Also, the double bed in the living room is very, very springy which pokes into your back throughout the night. We ended up sleeping on top of a duvet and using the spare duvet instead which worked fine. The curtains were also very thin which meant we were woken up by the sun every morning not a bad thing entirely, beautiful sights but I would recommend blinds instead of curtains or at least some thicker ones. Other than this, we could not fault our stay and would definitely come back again.
Numaira
It was lovely staying here as the facilities were good and the surroundings were amazing and peaceful. Needed to call the owner as the postcode takes you a little bit forward, but with the help of host we managed to reach the exact location. The host was welcoming and available for any help. The mattress of double bed and bunk bed were not in good condition, I think they need to be changed. Overall we enjoyed our stay there.
Beautiful place will be back soon so peaceful hot tube was perfect staff on site was brilliant
