Sunset Retreat Reviews

Josephine
Loved this holiday. The accommodation was great and a lovely peaceful location. Great feeding the horses and pony in the front paddock. Loved seeing the horses in the fields galloping around and looking so happy. The only thing I would say is there was nowhere to put our clothes so we lived out of our cases for a week but we managed and will likely return.
Carole
Had a lovely stay at Sunset Retreat. Surrounding area is lovely & peaceful. Lovely seeing & meeting horses. Hottub best one we've used, so relaxing after long drives & walks. Will definitely return X
Wonderful place and left alone to enjoy the holiday was very private and enclosed. Was lovely having all the animals close by. Would totally recommend to others.
Sunset Retreat is amazing, we had 3 nights here, could of stayed longer. Everything was perfect, facilities, hot tub, location. We loved it, we will definitely be back next year.
Christina
If you love animals and picturesque scenery then this is the place. It's close to Scarborough, Filey and Cayton Beach lovely places to visit and a relaxing hot tub when you return.
Elizabeth
We had a really fantastic and relaxing time away at Riggs Head Farm and would definitely return again. Close enough to Scarborough but far enough out to be peaceful, the property was very well cleaned and maintained and we loved the hot tub and the fire.

We were returning guests to Sunset Retreat, having last visited in 2023. The high standards we found in 2023 remained in place for our return visit and we had another great few days in the cabin. Its snug, but well appointed and has everything you need for a cosy, relaxing break. The hot tub is amazing and the patio and decking look fantastic too. Great views across the fields and it was so relaxing to lie back in the hot tub, watching the world go by and checking out the stars. We were even lucky enough to be visited a couple of times by a Greyhound called Mick who was a hilarious moocher. The site is well placed for a trip to Scarborough, or even further afield if you are happy to drive. We visited Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay and Pickering which are all lovely, but the council car parking can be a bit steep so park wisely. All in all, we hope to be back again soon and the ow news are fantastic and attentive to any issues. Thanks!
Absolutely beautiful place. The scenery is fantastic, it was amazing to wake up and see the horses and hills in the morning. The cabin was fantastic and so cosy. There wasn't a shelf in the oven, but we only noticed this late at night. I'm sure it would have been remedied if we'd have raised it in the morning. Overall, we had a great time for our honeymoon and would definitely come back.
Absolutely beautiful place to stay fantastic view and very friendly people definitely would like to come back
Really lovely little cabin, just big enough for two people, everywhere was spotless, views were beautiful and the rustic decorations really made it. We both work on a farm so waking up to seeing freerange chickens and horses was so lovely and peaceful, only improvement we could make would be to have a visitor information booklet for how to work some of the facilities e.g dish washer
Lovely little place to stay for couples. Very comfortable has all facilities you need. Hot tub was amazing. Was a really relaxing break loved all the animals around us particularly the black cat ?simba that visited everyday. Very cute. The only thing we won't over keen on was the mattress but wouldn't stop us returning. Highly recommend.
Angela
It was a beautiful setting, and really enjoyed our stay it was a romantic ... It was a beautiful setting, and really enjoyed our stay it was a romantic getaway for our 1st wedding anniversary The accommodation was spotless, and the owners were very welcoming and friendly, we will define going back
Matthew
Absolutely perfect place for a relaxing break. The lodge is beautiful, has everything you need. The place is so quiet and peaceful. Great location for a day out at Scarborough, and a great pub Ye Olde Forge 2 miles away which is a nice walk. Communication with the owners was also good. We're definitely planning to return!
Adelaide
Amazing place to stay, very quiet and relaxing. Beautiful cabin. Owners are very accommodating and friendly. Lovely place to stay. Personally staying in the summer I would like to be able to use the hot tub after 10. After going out for the evening it would be nice to come back and be able to stay in the hot tub past 10pm. Again, amazing place to stay. One thing that would elevate the accommodation, would be a tv outside that you could watch while in the hot tub seeing as music is not allowed.
Daniel
A jewel in your collection an absolute pleasure from the moment we arrived. The accommodation was beyond reproach perfectly situated and positioned for the best views of rolling countryside and wildlife. Best of all the amenities and attractions are a stones throw away in all directions including all tastes of eating establishments. An absolute perfect break with excellent hosts and friendly people all around, hope to return some day.
Absolutely amazing place, was lovely to see the horses every morning, we are definitely going to return. Couldnt fault a single thing, our stay was perfect from start to finish.
We had an amazing, relaxing holiday. Steph and nick were great hosts, so quite and peaceful cant wait to go back
Was by far the best place we have stayed, it was amazing we wished we could have stayed longer but we will definitely be returning. Views are amazing especially the sunset from the hot tub
Our time at sunset retreat was brilliant. It was a beautiful place to stay and everything was very clean. The cabin was very private. The fairy lights all in the cabin and the ones above the hot tube made it so cosy and pretty. The cabin had all the facilities you could need oven, dishwasher, fridge, small freezer and everything was provided towels, hand soap etc. just like if you were staying in a hotel. The cabin had central heating which warmed the cabin up really quickly but there was also a log burner too. The hot tube was amazing very clean and stayed hot throughout our stay so we could jump in without having to wait. Loved how easy checkin and checkout was, just turn up and the key was in the door and leave the key in the door when leaving. The only one thing I would add is if would have been useful if there was some basic instructions for the oven, dishwasher and the buttons on the hot tub. Overall 10 out of 10 and hope to go again in the future . Thank you sunset retreat.
Kathryn
Wouldnt change a thing. Maybe recommend to bring flip flops and robes for hot tub.
Lindsey
All round a lovely stay a well presented and equipt pod. Only thing we would mention but only to flag up to the owners to prevent further issue is that some of the hooks to the curtains are missing which closing them neatly was tricky it didnt spoil our enjoyment!
