Absolutely stunning stay in the Lake District. Beautiful shepherds hut with everything you could need and more. It smelt beautiful and everything felt clean and fresh. The hot tub was lovely, and the view was beautiful. The hosts were helpful, we knew that they were there if we needed anything but didnt feel overlooked. The location was perfect too, close enough to Penrith for essentials but far enough aaay to feel like youre really in the country side.
Myself and my partner have just returned home after a fantastic stay at the shepards hut at Lang farm. The accommodation was immaculate. Clean, well maintained and it has everything you need for stay. We had a lovely welcome package, stocked with bread, milk cereals. We had coffee, tea and biscuits also a lovely bottle of prosecco. The owners Joanne and Dean are a lovely couple. We will definitely back again in the near future.
Ling Farm Retreat could not have been better. Spotless and tastefully decorated with everything we could want, or need, available to us. A lovely view on a quiet backdrop. The hosts Jo and Dean could not have done any more for us.
Had a great stay everything you needed was available and the hosts where amazingly friendly and helpful.

Absolutely fabulous stay at La'al Ling! Dean and Jo were perfect hosts, from the information provided prior to arrival, having the hot tub ready for our arrival, the welcome pack which included more than we anticipated!, to every little detail that they have thought of, we cannot fault anything! You can tell they have really put a great deal of thought, effort and heart into this accommodation, and we had the most relaxing stay imaginable. The space is perfectly formed, with storage space under the bed so we didn't keep tripping over cases and bags, and every bit of space utilised in the kitchen area and bathroom. The outside space is amazing with beautiful clear, star filled skies to gaze at from the hot tub or by the fire pit. We were welcomed by both Dean and Jo who showed us around and made us feel very at home, and then left alone for us to enjoy our weekend. Cannot recommend this place enough, we will be back!
The hosts were absolutely lovely, everything is exactly as pictured, gorgeous location, really lovely amenities and decor within the cabin, and hot tub was gorgeous too. Can really see the effort from the hosts to create a welcoming space and they did great providing info on the local area and other handy guides etc
Lauren
We stayed here for a week and it was really lovely. Jo had the hot tub ready for us when we arrived and also helped us refill and warm it up during the week. The cabin was cute & cosy and all the little touches robes, prosecco, wood burner, pumpkin decorations made it really memorable and homely. We will definitely be back again
Loveliest little getaway in the lakes! Such a cosy lodge in a perfect location surrounded by countryside with mountains views of Blencathra. We had the best few days here, Dean and Jo made sure we had everything we needed and got us settled in straight away. The hut even had autumn decorations to make it more special and the wood fired hot tub is perfect on a night time with starry skies!
Matthew
Spent a week here for a chainsaw course, it was brilliant! Couldnt ask for a better place and the hot tub was amazing after climbing all day. Definitely be back again. Thank you
Millie
Hosts were lovely people made us feel very welcome, such a cosy little hut, beautiful walks nearby and lovely local pubs
4 nights at Laal Ling and it was brilliant! Dean greeted us on arrival, showed us everything we needed to know and was on hand for any questions during our stay. Couldnt recommend this hut for a couple wanting a staycation more than this! Service, cleanliness, quietness, comfort, it had it all! For anyone wanting to stay here they are grabbing themselves a bargain & a really enjoyable stay. Well be back for sure!
Wow what a find! ! A gorgeous, clean, fresh, cosy Shepherds hut in an idyllic rural setting, with its own little garden and the added luxury of a hot tub. It provided everything you could ask for and more, with generous little touches. The accommodation enhanced our holiday no end. Coming back to relax after exploring the amazing lakes and surrounding area was a delight. Dean and Jo were a pleasure to meet and couldnt be more helpful. We would highly recommend.
Judith
Lovely little hide away. The hosts have done a brilliant job. Everything you need is there for you. The hut was spotless. Little extras left for us too. Proseco bread milk orange juice milk jams butter tea coffee and sugar. Nice touch. They are very informative and on hand if needed. The hot tub is an extra bonus which we used. Would highly recommend. X
Nathan
Absolutely brilliant place to stay! Lovely clean place with an ace hot tub with even better views. The owners even went to little details such as leaving fresh milkjuicebutter etc in the fridge for us and kindly explained to us where everything was and how to use everything too! Definitely the best shepherds hut weve ever stayed in. Thanks again!
Me and my partner stayed here in the middle of august, 1 for my birthday and 2 to visit my family. And what can we say! From start to finish dean and jo couldnt do enough for us! Jo texted me on our way up asking if we wanted the hot tub ready for our arrival, told me what was in the hut and they even left us goodies! Which were very kind. Jo came and introduced herself and told us some more stuff about the place, had a lovely conversation with her! The next day we got to speak to dean, what a lovely man! Very chatty and informative which is lovely! Overall we had the most amazing stay here and will definitely be staying again! Thank you so much dean and Jo!
What a fabulous time we had during our stay. Dean and Jo were so accommodating and welcoming. Location was perfect, not too far away from activities and local amenities. Accommodation exceeded our expectations. The perfect getaway.
Jonathan
We had a lovely time after a very hectic few weeks. Laal king was the perfect romantic base from which to see the local sites. Cant begin to say how welcoming and friendly Dean & Jo were. Would definitely recommend this lovely quaint shepherds hut.
We had a lovely and relaxing 4 night stay to celebrate my 30th birthday. Dean and Jo were very accommodating and ensured we were happy with everything insideoutside the hut before leaving us to enjoy your stay. The shepherds hut was immaculately presented with lots of towels, a robe and slippers each. The welcome breakfast treats were also very much enjoyed and a lovely added touch. Dean gave us some ideas for exploring around the Lakes and while doing so we stopped off for food at Foundry 34, Penrith and The Crown Inn, Pooley Bridge near Ullswater Lake. Recommend both! Thank you Dean & Jo for our wonderful stay. Im sure we will be back again in the future!
Joanne
Amazing little Shepherd Hut in a perfect location. The accommodation has everything you need. When we arrived, the hot tub was ready for us to start our holiday. Jo & Dean couldnt be more helpful. Thank you for making our first holiday together a special one x
This is a beautiful property with super facilities, thoughtfully prepared by the owners to combine a comfortable and luxurious shepherd hut stay with practicalities. The hot tub experience was wonderful after a day in the hills and we chose to use the full sized fridge, wellequipped cooking utensils and microwave for our meals although there are lovely pubs a short drive away. The property has stunning views from the hot tub too!, and although you can hear a little traffic at busier times from the small road, this doesnt intrude. In fact, the location is superbly suited for beauty and accessibility. Our host Jo was lovely with great information provided and she took the time to check all was well and then left us to enjoy the peaceful stay! I would definitely recommend!
Mollie
Dean and Jo were so lovely and their hut was the best holiday accommodation Ive ever stayed in. It was so cosy and luxurious, and the photos dont nearly do the view justice. We had everything we needed right there, and we were especially pleased that they had all the OL maps for the surrounding areas, that we could borrow for our days hiking. The only negative was that we struggled to leave the lovely hut to go on our planned hikes! Fantastic stay, cant wait to return
La'al Ling. Amazing!!!! We were greeted by our hosts Jo & Dean and made very welcome, they had text us earlier in the day to ask out time of arrival so they would have the hot tub warmed and ready to use. Nice thought The shepherds hut was immaculate both inside and out and spotlessly clean and fresh. There was everything we needed for our stay here, and Jo had given us loads of local places to visit and eat if needed. Completely enjoyed our holiday there and felt relaxed, Jo & Dean and their son James left us to our own devices yet they were only a phone call away if needed. Big thankyou!!!! We will be booking again and would recommend this idilic retreat in such a beautiful quite location of Cumbria to anyone. Thanks Jo, Dean & James. All the best Steve & Adele x
Laal ling is a great shepherds hut. It has all the amenities you would need and every single corner of the shepherds hut has been thought of so well from Dean & Jo the owners. It was a really thoughtful touch for them to put Prosecco, milk and butter and some other little bits for our breakfast. It was so lovely that Dean & Jo messaged us before our arrival to make sure that they could great us on arrival at the shepherds hut. They even heated the hot tub for our arrival for when we arrived. Both Dean & Jo are very accommodating and made us feel very welcome. The bed was extremely comfortable! The space is very well thought of with under the bed storage for your luggage so then you dont have to find a space to put it. Me and my boyfriend will definitely be coming back to Laal ling. If theres any shepherds hut you stay in please stay in this one!
The most perfect long weekend, the little added extras like Prosecco in the fridge on arrival, and the hot tub already being heated up just made it that bit more special. Location wise is was brilliant, with loads to do in the area, we went to The Secret Garden on the Saturday night, highly highly recommend, the food and drinks were delicious! That said, make sure you book a taxi home as we did get stuck!! Thank you very much for the most wonderful weekend, we will be back!
My boyfriend and I had a brilliant stay at Laal Ling. Not only was the Shepherds Hut pristine and had everything we needed, but the owners were so kind and helpful to us during our stay. This meant we had a really enjoyable, relaxing time especially because each day we got back and the hot tub was ready for us to use!. We would really recommend this beautiful place.
Rochelle
Absolutely loved our stay here! The cabin is equipped with everything you need! Lovely views of the country side, clean all throughout, maintained to a high standard and both owners are absolutely lovely! Couldnt thank them enough for their help during our stay there, would 100 be staying again next year!
Jo and Dean went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay. They thought about every detail of the hut to make sure theyd provided everything we needed. Thank you!
Colynda
Not long got back from a 3 day break with my partner. All I can say is WOW..the view was amazing and so relaxing. The accommodation is stunning fresh juice, milk, bread, butter, some cereal and Prosecco was waiting for us. Very accommodating and welcoming from Dean and Jo. They honestly couldnt do enough for you! Dean was a whizz with the hot tub making sure it was heated perfectly for us! They recommended us to the George and Dragon which was a stunning steak to share! We had all the essentials to have a BBQ and the set up was brilliant we didnt need anything else! We also found some beautiful waterfalls, castles and great views! Would definitely come back again for another relaxing trip! Thank you so much again for your hospitality.
Tracey
We had a lovely stay at Laal Ling, such a cosy and romantic hideaway the extras provided were very thoughtful and made the experience even better. Would definitely recommend and hope to return for another break away very soon!
I can not rave enough about the property or the proprietors after our recent visit! The somewhat qwirky accommodation was immaculate, exactly as advertised and the views from the hut were to die for. Dean and Jo were excellent hosts, always on hand should we need anything, but at the same time not intrusive. It was a lovely touch when we had gone out for a meal one evening they had hand turned on around 20 lanterns along the path to the hut so as to light our way upon our return. Lots of lovely things to do in the area with the Lakes an easy commute and some wonderful gastro pub dining close by. Will definitely be returning in the future.
Rebecca
Me and my friend had the most delightful stay. The owners were both such fabulous hosts and were only a message or phone call away if we needed any help. We had the added luxury of a velvetiser which was a lovely added bonus. We brought a pizza with us and they were really helpful cooking our pizza for us as there was no oven in the shepherds hut. As well as more than happy to help with the hot tub even having it set up for us when we arrived. The shepherds hut is gorgeous and we are looking forward to booking it again. Thank you for such a delightful stay
I booked La'al Ling for a twonight break to celebrate my husband's 40th at the beginning of the new year. What a lovely Shepherd's Hut this is. Dean and Jo are fabulous hosts, very welcoming and incredibly helpful. We really appreciated all the extra home comforts on arrival, so thank you. Milk, orange juice, tea, coffee, cereals, bread and butter were all provided and they even had a bottle of prosecco waiting for us in the fridge. We were rubbish at getting a fire started, so Dean helped us to get it going for the wonderful hot tub. We enjoyed two nights under the stars, which was so relaxing. Beautiful surroundings and a warm, welcoming smile. We will be back!
We were warmly greeted by Dean and Jo. They showed us where everything was, and how to use all the facilities. Dean had already fired up the hot tub, so shortly after unpacking we were in it, relaxing, whilst taking in the amazing views. Later whilst the storm was angry outside, we were snuggled in front of the roaring fire listening to the hypnotic rain dancing on the roof. The local area had a power cut due to the storm, but we had a 'kettle' over the fire, and Jo had placed Xmas lights around the hut, so it was warm, light and we could make hot brews. We'd thoroughly recommend La'al Ling, and we'll be back in the summer
We had a great stay at L'aal Ling and couldn't have asked for more from the hosts they thought of everything to make the stay that little bit more special! The hut was wonderfully cosy and the log burner was perfect in the colder weather we can't wait to come back!
Andrew
This was better than some 5 star hotels I have stoped in definitely cleaner and the hosts couldnt do enough for us. Very comfortable warm and very pleasant views are amazing we will definitely be going back thanks for a Brilliant stay Andrew and prim
Alexander
Dean and Jo were fabulous hosts. They have spent a lot of time and effort making the Hut functional and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The setting is lovely, nice and quiet. Some lovely places to visit on the doorstep and you arent driving at 2 mph to get there like you would if you stopped in more touristy spots around the lakes. You are literally only a few miles of the dual carriageway which was great after the drive up there. It was great to have the log burning hot tub made ready for your return from a days walking. Seriously the hosts couldnt do enough, provided local places to eat, walks and were so pleasant! I will be looking to return.
The hosts are absolutely lovely, so accommodation, definetly recommend x
Matthew
Beautiful setting, on a farm, surrounded by little sheep, with a view of Blencathra The hosts have thought of everything and are operating on a world class level We had the chance to speak to the host Laura and her son who looked after us on our first evening both super nice and helpful. Will definitely be coming back Thanks so much for the perfect birthday stay
