Shepherds Hut Reviews

This is such a beautiful getaway with amazing surroundings. However, I feel there should definitely be a warning in place with regards to how hot the shepherds hut gets. We had booked 4 nights from the 22nd June, the temperature outside was 31, the temperature inside the shepards hut was 38 throughout the day and this was with 3 fans that the owners had provided and one that we bought from home. There was no reprieve from the heat. Unfortunately due to this our dog was really suffering, she couldn't go inside to get away from the sun as the heat was so much hotter inside, we made the decision to leave with only staying one night out of the four we booked. Noone can help the weather however there needs to be a warning for how hot the shepards hut gets when it is dog friendly.

We had a wonderful stay at the Shepard's Hut. As we were so lucky with lovely hot weather, we got to really appreciate and enjoy the perfect outdoor seating areas and beautiful countryside view. The outdoor shower was also greatly appreciated! It had everything we needed, a really lovely cosy place.
Shepherd's Hut was a wonderful peaceful retreat into the countryside. It was a heatwave so the hut trapped heat and was like an OVEN and I couldn't go to bed till midnight when it had cooled slightly. But that's not your fault! Fans were provided but they barely helped as temperatures were in the 30s. Outside shower and hot tub set to cool was much appreciated. I would have appreciated a pint of milk and a few tea bags on arrival so I could make a cup of tea after travelling a long way. That would have made the welcome better. I had to go straight out to Tesco to get a few provisions and found it closed as it was Bank Holiday. Also, a peeler in the drawer was needed. But overall a wonderful holiday and the peace and quiet was very restful
We loved it here and had an excellent time! Would definitely recommend
Had a lovely long weekend away at The Shepherds Hut. The hut was in a perfect location with amazing views and in close distance to everything you could need. We walked down to local pub where locals were lovely and super friendly. Hut was a great size and clean with everything you could need. Hosts were good at communicating and even put up balloons and a card for a birthday celebration. We loved our stay and spent lots of time taking in the views, watching the chickens, and relaxing in the hot tub. We can't wait to come back soon, hopefully in the summer, to enjoy the outdoor area even more.
This was the perfect place to celebrate our engagement. The view from the hot tub both in the day and evening is wonderful. As for the hut, they have made great use of the limited space, to ensure you have everything you need and it has a lovely cosy feel to it. We went to the greyhound for a bite to eat and some drinks, the locals were very friendly and the ham and cheese baps were top tier! Would definitely recommend.

Had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Shepherd's Hut. The location is very peaceful and tranquil, there were loads of animals near the Shepherd's Hut on the farmland, loads of cows and hens. Sitting in the hot tub while taking in the sights of the countryside in the evening was absolute bliss. Colton is a short walk away with plenty of public trails plus can follow. Rugeley is not too far away either. The Hut had everything I needed. One fridge is outside while there is a smaller one in the Hut, TV has all the apps you could want as well as live TV. Highly recommend Shepherd's Hut as it is a great location and the hor tub really adds to the blissful experience.
When I was looking for somewhere to stay fairly localish, I came across this lovely shepherd's hut. I didn't book it straight away but kept coming back to it, so yes, I then booked it. On arriving, it was exactly as the pictures portrayed, and it suited me perfectly. The hot tub was excellent and used often. The view is beautiful and the chucks amusing, lol. I just needed some peace and quiet, and thats what I got. The bed was amazingly comfortable, I don't sleep well but certainly did there and the freestanding bath, lovely. I will certainly be booking again either later this year or early next year.
Louise
Amazing stay, great location and views. Fridge outside is great for summer and bbq
George
Fantastic cabin, amazing views of the scenery, bonus for us was the local firework displays we watched in the hot tub on our last night. Thank you so much for an amazing stay and making our honeymoon a memorable one
Sharon
Amazing place to stay so peaceful. 3 night stay to celebrate my 50th birthday a treat from my hubby
We had a great stay. The hut is in a tranquil and lovely setting. Even in 2 days of rain it was warm and welcoming. When the sun was out it was gorgeous. The bed is comfy the bath great. Out side the hot tub was lovely to use and I sat outside in the seating area a lot. The road up to the hut was flooded which meant we couldnt walk down to the village. Lots of places to visit and pubs to eat in.
Chelsea
A few days in pure relaxation was just perfect, watching the sunset from the hot tub and waking up to the sounds of pure worldliness was blissful.
Loved the property. So many great ideas. Perfect short break with the husband and dog.
Lovely place to stay, very clean and a nice comfy bed. Great outdoor space and hot tub. Perfect place for a relaxing break.
Esther
Thankyou so much for a great week. Having the fan there was a lifeline as the journey had been a roaster. Life would have been a little easier with a microwave but space would be an issue for it. We had a great time, a lovely group of neighbours in a family of chickens so I was home from home. We are back in the autumn woohoo.
We had a lovely weekend at the shepherds hut, beautiful views from the garden, comfy bed everything nice and clean. The only thing I would say if anyone is bringing a larger dog its a little bit small but we were out and about anyway! And if the weathers really hot which doesnt happen very often it gets a bit sweaty in there! But apart from that an amazing little place thanks again
Amazing place loved every minute amazing views, lovely hot tub also bath in the bedroom was great, bed was supper comfy and linen smelt amazing.
This place was absolutely beautiful with the most gorgeous views which are lovely when in the hot tub. Waking up every morning to the view of the chickens whilst having a cup of tea. The bath in the bedroom gives it such a cosy feeling along with the livingkitchen space. I highly recommend this place and will certainly be coming back again.
We had such a lovely weekend in the shepherds hut. The view was amazing and made it feel so private and relaxing. The hot tub was of course a lovely addition. The garden area was secure so we could let the dog wander around without having to worry about her although she did mostly just want to bark at the chickens! Lots of local areas to explore. I would come back in a heart beat. Thank you so much.
Unfortunately the external show has been disconnected which was a real shame the bath tub was lovely but too deep for me to get out of comfortably. The wash basin in the toilet does not hold the water the plug needs adjusting, over all it was a nice break the local pub The Greyhound is nice real local.
Lovely cottage, relaxing and cosy. Beautiful views. Clean comfortable bed. Few negatives The big green grass area is not for use as we thought before booking, if you are taking your dog it has chickens in I would recommend adding a hair dryer and it being fully self check in as waiting around for someone past check in time means less time being able to do as you wish especially as there are instructions on how to remove the hot tub lid. Not as big as it seems in the photos and there is no longer an outdoor shower.
Not alot of room for our little dog, the photos show a large grassed area but it's not included in the rental. Woken up early every morning by cockrals. The cottage was freezing and only one radiator working. The window between the kitchen and toilet is intrusive watching someone sat on the toilet while cooking in the kitchen isnt nice. The out door shower doesn't work The hot tub was lovely and the place is very clean and well decorated
Lovely quirky Shepherds Hut lovely location fab hot tub for relaxing in all the bit you need for a relaxing getaway. We enjoyed ourselves.
Patricia
Lovely shepherds hut, hot tub was amazing especially on Christmas day and my husbands birthday. Owner very welcoming. The hut was very clean and cozy
Daniel
Brilliant stay comfy and clean. Bed so comfy and hot tub relaxing. Have recommended. Only point I would make would be maybe a lamp in the lounge area as all lights can be bright later at night. But overall amazing thanks
Jackson
It was a lovely little hut which we were comfortable in, stunning views of the beautiful scenery around us, plenty to do nearby. We went to see the gardens and went to Cannock forest with our huskies. The hot tub was great to get into after walking all day. We would highly recommend to anyone and we will be coming back ourselves.
Gordon
A lovely, cosy little hut. We had the perfect week here for our anniversary. It had everything we needed and the hot tub was a major plus! Everything was within a 10 minute drive with lots of different places to eat, drink and get any bits & bobs you may need. The view is spectacular especially at night. Well worth a visit.
Melanie
We loved staying here. Very minimal and small but a great experience. Its in the middle of nowhere with hens and cows as neighbours. The hot tub was a perfect bonus and we really utilised it by using it every day, this was a great addition to the property. We loved the big windows in the lounge kitchen area which looked into the chicken enclosure and made you feel like you were in there with them. It was dog friendly too which was ideal as we came away with our fur baby! One of the best UK stays we have ever done! If you get a chance its a must go to! All the local area is stunning and great for outdoorsy adventure minded people!
Pros Beautiful location, very comfortable bed, lovely surroundings. Very friendly neighbor. Hot tub was very clean. The facility was very clean and well kept and we felt very safe and content. Cons Bathroom is way too small and you are not able to close the door and that makes you visible if anyone is in the chicken field. To stop this being as much of an issue there could be some blinds fitted on the front doors. Parasol is needed to go over the hot tub. Outside seating needs updating. Lounge sofa is very small for two people. TV wouldn't work for us. Hot tub and the shower need to be more private. Gate didn't lock.
Nathan
Beautiful location and surroundings. Cosy and clean .
Was a excellent experience and will be back again in the future. Thank you for everything
Stayed for a week . Lovely time . No complaints . Thank you . Beautiful views and fantastic weather so hot the outdoor shower was a god send !
Couldnt have been a better experience, the host that met us was extremely friendly as well,
